About this event

This FREE Practical PPE workshop aims to consolidate the principles of the Monash University Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) education held in 2020 at your aged care facility. All current IPC leads, clinical educators, coordinators and managers from your aged care facility are now invited to attend this workshop.

This workshop will explore the principles of practical infection prevention and control and the benefits of the correct usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) and will comprise of the following sessions:

PRACTICAL PPE EDUCATION

This education session, facilitated by nurse educators from Monash University Nursing and Midwifery, will focus on key principles of infection prevention and control that promote understanding of infection transmission and will include interactive group activities and discussion. During the session all attendees will be given the opportunity to don and doff PPE.

VIRTUAL REALITY PPE SIMULATION

A virtual reality (VR) simulation, specifically designed for aged care, will be used to assist with ongoing PPE education by using a deliberate practice donning and doffing PPE. All workshop attendees will be provided with access to this novel way of learning and given the chance to be immersed in the VR simulation during the workshop. This technology aims to support you in your IPC Lead role, ensuring the successful and continuous delivery of PPE education to staff in your organisation. If you have a laptop and headphones (with speakers) we encourage you to bring them along.

Attending this workshop will assist you to consolidate your knowledge of principles of infection prevention and control and will also give you the opportunity to:

Network with IPC Leads across Victoria - There will be opportunities to meet and network over lunch with other IPC Leads from across the State.

Gain CPD hours - This workshop will count towards CPD hours and certificates will be provided from Monash University to attendees.
